Over the years, the Gîtes de France label has grown to become Europe's number one network of bed and breakfasts, celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2005.
Our objectives:
- promote comfortable, friendly holiday stays,
- meet the special needs of holidaymakers seeking authentic, convivial holidays in natural settings, peace and quiet, novelty and wide open spaces,
- help to preserve and promote the French countryside and its special cultural heritage,
- participate in local development and bring stability to the rural population by providing additional resources through tourism.
A Gîtes de France holiday is both enriching and relaxing, thanks to the 43,000 men and women who welcome you into their homes, each one different and unique.
These values have made Gîtes de France a leading force in sustainable development for rural tourism.
The Gîtes de France quality label guarantees that your accommodation meets specific standards of comfort (from 1 to 4 "ears of corn") and complies with the network's national charter.
Gîtes de France guesthouses are inspected at least once every five years; the ratings vary according to the quality of the architecture and setting, the level of comfort and the services provided.
Whatever the rating, your hosts will do everything to make your stay an enjoyable one.
1 ear of corn: basic rooms.
2 ears of corn: comfortably appointed rooms, each with at least one private shower room or bathroom.
3 ears of corn: well-appointed rooms, each with its own private, fully-fitted bathroom (shower, bath, washbasin and toilet).
4 ears of corn: luxury rooms, each with its own private, fully-fitted bathroom. Accommodation in a residence with character in a beautiful setting. Additional services are often available.
